Food & Beverage

The food and beverage industry is of great interest to Lafer due to the wide variety of applications where PVD-CVD-DLC coatings can be applied. There are two particular branches of this industry where coatings can bring great benefits: the beverage industry and the food industry.

The advantages of PVD-CVD-DLC coatings for the beverage industry are:

  • reduction of friction coefficient
  • detachment effect
  • protection of mold surface, thereby prolonging useful working life
  • significant increase in surface strength
  • excellent resistance to wear and abrasion in plastic molding
  • increased resistance to corrosion caused by gas released during molding

The advantages of PVD-CVD-DLC coatings for the food industry are:

  • substitution of treatments which are harmful to health, such as chromium electroplating
  • containment of the temperature of automatic machine components which come into contact with food, limiting their heating
  • formation of a mechanical protective barrier against cleaning and reconditioning agents used on the molds and equipment
  • improvement in performance of the molds and components which come into contact with food, limiting the effects of adhesive residue
