Lafer’s R&D team of 13 engineers means that it is able to provide customized solutions with dedicated work cycles. Each customer is assigned a contact technician with whom he can discuss the details regarding the materials to be processed.
Lafer has set up a Surface Engineering department dedicated to pre- and post-coating treatments that enables all the factors that contribute to achieving the performance levels required by the Customer to be optimized.
Decoating is used to restore a previously coated surface to its original condition. The Lafer decoating process is repeatable and reliable and is optimized according to the base metal alloy in order not to damage the substrate and keep the surface unaltered.
The sharpening department, with the best automated systems and a metrology room equipped with the latest generation tools, allows the cutting edges of both cylindrical tools and gear cutting tools to be reconditioned and inspected. All our sharpening services are certified and carried out in-house.

The web-based order tracking service allows customers to stay up to date on the progress and delivery date of their orders.
During processing, the system is updated in real time and can be consulted 24/7.
Lafer is located in Piacenza, the hub of major motorway and railway junctions, as well as a sorting centre for the main couriers.
The company offers a daily goods collection and delivery service through agreements with leading national and international couriers.
The materials are inspected:
on arrival – for quantity, technical feasibility and for the presence of surface anomalies that could affect the performance of the coating
before delivery – for compliance, the proper execution of the coating and any complementary services

Our personnel work on three shifts, which allows approximately 20,000 items to be coated every day.
